The province needs a meaningful strategy around climate change

Electric vehicles are going to cost more than you bargained for as electricity rates rise to capture lost gas taxes.

Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault speaks at an announcement in Toronto on Dec.19, 2023, where he outlined the details of his plan to eventually phase out the sale of gas-powered vehicles in Canada. 

While the Doug Ford government’s about-face on renewable energy is certainly welcome and overdue, it is important to recall that the announcement does nothing to change the province’s overall trajectory on electricity, energy and climate change.
