The Orange County Guitar Orchestra announces

Audition for the 2015 - 2016 season

The Orange County Guitar Orchestra is Southern California’s only professional-level guitar orchestra. The ensemble specializes in performing exciting and colorful works composed or

arranged for multiple guitars. Now heading into its third season, the Orchestra is looking forward to an expanding schedule of concerts and a growing following of enthusiastic audiences.

In preparing for the new season, we plan to expand the Orchestra from the present eighteen players to a complement of twenty-four. Not all of the Orchestra’s repertoire is set in four

parts, but, for organizational purposes, the ensemble is considered as being in four sections. For the 2015 – 2016 season, we will have the following openings for new members:

Guitar 1: two players

Guitar 2: two players

Guitar 3: two players

Guitar 4: one player

Auditions for new members will be held on Friday, April 10th, 2015 at St. Joseph's

Episcopal Church in Buena Park. Applicants will be expected to perform sample passages from the Orchestra’s present repertoire and to demonstrate proficiency in sight-reading. The repertoire samples will be provided in advance to allow preparation before the audition.

Rehearsals of the full Orchestra are normally held on the fourth Friday of each month, from 9:30

AM to 12:00 noon at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church. There will also be mandatory section rehearsals, organized by the section leaders. Occasionally, extra rehearsals may be added just before performances. Orchestra members are responsible for preparing their music prior to rehearsals. Members are expected to arrive at all rehearsals on time and fully prepared.

Thank you for considering membership in the Orange County Guitar Orchestra. If you are interested in participating and will be able to commit to the rehearsal schedule (as well as all

performances), please respond on or before March 20, 2015. Questions and correspondence may be addressed to Shintaro Yana at
